A vision of Z-devices - page 3 The conventional notion of the "Internet of Things" imagines a toaster to be a single "thing", a "smart toaster". This conventional notion does not generally dive deeper than that. It sees a single computer inside a single toaster, and the remainder of the parts of the toaster wired directly to it. I have a different vision. I see each of the several dozen parts of the toaster being independent Z-devices. They can be manufactured independently, by different manufacturers; they can operate independently, each with its own Z-chip; and they can be assembled into various things, including, a toaster.
