The Mars Project - page 2 How much spectrum can we use? There is no FCC to limit us: The ENTIRE spectrum is ours, from zero to infinity! There are no pre-existing spectrum allocations and we are the only user of it. And we are the Law. Shall we use just one single super-wide-band channel of amazingly high speed, blanketing the entire planet? Or divide it up into lots of narrow band channels? We can use any protocols and any transmission methods we want. Maybe not even use radio, maybe the planet itself could be the conducting medium (as Nikola Tesla imagined). Or perhaps we could design electronics that tap into the quantum field. Or the Jedi Force. We are in it for the long run, and as it may take a decade or two to build up the population on Mars, we will have plenty of time to do basic research into these questions, and others, unfettered by the need to be compatible with the past or compliant to government regulations.
