We get to design and build all new digital electronics as well.

We don't want to look to the past for design methodologies. On Mars there is no Intel, no ARM, no NVIDIA, no TSMC, no Xilinx, no Cadence. No RISCs and no CISCs. We can build our own chip fabrication facility, perhaps in Mars orbit.

We can use any kind of processes. Analog? Binary? DNA? Quantum? Nano-mechanical?

We can have any kind of architecture. Any kind of organization. There are no pre-defined instruction sets. There is no pre-existing code base, no need for backward compatibility. We will be developing hardware, languages, and operating systems from scratch.
