Similarly, we could have an adder device which maintains a tally of all numbers routed to it. For example:

   thermometer , 28 , 16.9 -> adder -> printer

This sequence of instructions computes temperature + 28 + 16.9 and then routes that sum to a printer. Once routed, it resets its tally to 0.

Or, we could have a square root object. And we can combine operations, like this:

   thermometer , 28 -> adder -> squareRooter -> printer

This sequence routes the temperature and the constant 28 to the adder, and then routes the output of the adder to the squareRooter, which is then routed to the printer. Thus, it computes the square root of the temperature plus 28, and prints it.
