ZOZ objects can communicate securely - page 4 One of the biggest problems contributing to the failure of security on the Internet is its fantastic complexity. At the time of this writing there are more than 140 different Internet "protocols". (A "protocol" is a method for handling a particular kind of data. See wikipedia article "List of IP protocol numbers"). You can learn about just a few of them from this bestselling book: "TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 1: The Protocols" (Addison-Wesley Professional Computing Series). Each of these protocols require programs that have from thousands to millions of lines of code to support them. This leaves plenty of room for bugs, which are famously quite numerous. Not to mention purposeful "back doors" and other aberrations. Consider that at the time of this writing, we have had more than 30 years in which thousands of companies employing tens of thousands of programmers have been continuously working to *improve* Internet security. And what progress have they made? The more they work to "fix" it the worse it seems to get. I don't think it's because they aren't trying. I think it's because Internet "security" is simply fundamentally unfixable.
